A sanctuary for the
timeless art
Nrutyatrupti — “the fulfillment of dance” — is Bhubaneswar's dedicated home for Odissi classical dance and the folk traditions of Odisha.

Founded in devotion, 2021
Nrutyatrupti was founded in 2021 by Truptismita Tarini, our Founder & Mentor, under the guidance of Guru Smt. Swayam Pragnya Sahoo — Our Guru, and the figure whose teaching underpins everything we do. The academy is affiliated with Pragnya Nrutyayan.
We were founded on a single belief — that the discipline and devotion of Odissi classical dance belong to everyone, from a five-year-old taking their first step to an adult returning to a lifelong dream. Students move through technique, theory, and abhinaya in the unbroken guru–shishya tradition — the way Odissi has been passed down through generations, inspired by the sculpted dancers of the Konark Sun Temple.

Guru Smt. Swayam Pragnya Sahoo
An accomplished Odissi exponent and choreographer of the Deba Prasad Das Gharana, training under the legendary Guru Sri Durga Charan Ranbir since 1992. Founder, Principal and General Secretary of Pragnya Nrutyayan, Bhubaneswar — and the very guru under whom Founder Truptismita Tarini has trained. A CCRT Junior Scholar, B-Grade stage & media artist of Doordarshan Kendra, and empanelled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Her performances span India's most celebrated stages — the Konark Festival, Puri Beach Festival, World Culture Festival 2016, the International Odissi Dance Festival, Modhera Dance Festival (Gujarat Tourism) and ICCR Horizon Series — alongside some fifteen Odissi productions for Doordarshan, including the dance ballet Dasamahabidya. Since 2011 she has organised the National Gurushree Samman Festival, honouring the greatest gurus of Odissi, and through the Pragnya Prativa Award she sponsors year-long scholarships for three young artists every year.
